My story

It started as family meal.

I'm Hannah Nichols, a chef in Austin, Texas. While working as a sous chef here in Austin, I started baking olive oil cakes on the side and bringing them in for family meal. Everyone loved them.

Then I made a vegan version for a friend, and it came out better than the original. No butter, no cream, no eggs. Just good olive oil, and honestly, you can't tell.

In July 2024 that side project became Hoonie Cakes: a one-woman operation where I bake everything myself, with local Austin flour from Barton Springs Mill and good olive oil from Graza. Quality ingredients are the whole point.

The cakes

A short menu, done properly.

Nine-inch rounds, about two to three inches high. Served unadorned, with no heavy frosting to hide behind. They keep beautifully for days without drying out. Everything is vegan; nothing is gluten-free.
